About MadeComfy
MadeComfy was founded in 2015 by Sabrina Bethunin and Quirin Schwaighofer in direct response to their own experience. Quirin asked Sabrina to manage his property in Cremorne Point while he was travelling overseas. Quirin realised he needed local support to manage local bookings and deliver his guests a 5-star experience.
Having witnessed how her property management benefited Quirin and his guests, Sabrina saw the opportunity to turn this into the unique business it is today.
Today, MadeComfy is a property management and hospitality company of 100+ experts committed to helping investors maximise returns on their short-term rental properties. Headquartered in Australia, we cover Australia and New Zealand, partnering with local professional agents for on-the-ground local expertise.
As each year passes, we continue to enhance our end-to-end solutions for greater guest experience, stronger rental performance, and to further take the weight and complexity of managing a short-term rental off investors’ shoulders.
The business idea came to Sabrina in 2015, after co-founder Quirin asked her to help manage his Airbnb in Cremorne Point while he was travelling overseas. Quirin realised that he needed local support to manage bookings and deliver his guests a five-star experience.
Seeing how property management benefited Quirin and his guests, Sabrina thought about turning this idea into a revenue-generating initiative. This is when Quirin and Sabrina gave birth to the fresh, new idea that began the MadeComfy journey.
In 2017, MadeComfy attracted $1.1 million in investment from high-profile backers, fuelling our expansion into Melbourne and supporting the launch of the MadeComfy Platform. This milestone marked a pivotal step in our mission to elevate short-term rental property management across Australia.
In 2018, MadeComfy raised $6 million from Investec to support our development of proprietary technology, including our market-leading revenue maximisation technology. This innovation uses real-time data to adjust rates based on demand, seasonality, and local events, helping property owners maximise their rental income. This funding marked a leap forward in our commitment to smarter, data-driven property management.
In 2019, MadeComfy expanded operations nationwide, bringing our property management expertise to even more locations across Australia. This year also saw the beginning of a strategic partnership with Airbnb, enabling us to enhance service offerings and provide even greater visibility and booking opportunities for our clients. Together, these milestones underscored our commitment to setting new standards in the short-term rental industry.
In 2020, we launched the MadeComfy Booking Platform, a proprietary system designed to streamline the booking process and enhance the guest experience. This platform provided direct booking capabilities, optimised property visibility, and improved operational efficiency, further establishing MadeComfy as a leader in short-term rental innovation.
In 2021, we launched MadeComfy Pro, a strategic partnership program designed for real estate agencies looking to tap into the lucrative short-term rental market. MadeComfy Pro provides agencies with the tools, technology, and support needed to offer short-term rental services under their brand, enabling them to diversify revenue streams and enhance client relationships.
In 2022, MadeComfy launched MadeComfy Corporate, now the largest network for corporate travellers in the short-term rental industry. Alongside this, we formed national partnerships with leading real estate brands, including LJ Hooker, Raine & Horne, Harcourts, and McGrath. These initiatives expanded our reach, allowing us to offer premium accommodation solutions to corporate clients and build strong alliances with top industry players.
In 2023, MadeComfy expanded internationally with the launch of operations in New Zealand, bringing our expertise in short-term rental management across the Tasman. We also introduced a nationally recognised housekeeping certification program, designed to uphold the highest standards of quality and consistency. This program reinforces our commitment to exceptional guest experiences and sets a new benchmark for cleanliness and service in the industry.
In 2024, MadeComfy introduced an AI-supported guest experience to enhance the quality and responsiveness of our service. This innovative system allows us to provide timely assistance to guests, answering questions and resolving issues with greater efficiency. By streamlining our support processes, this AI integration empowers our team to deliver an even higher standard of service, ensuring guests have a smooth and enjoyable stay.
